Why was this year's Victoria's Secret show so successful?

A show that was criticised last year may triumph the next. We are talking about the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2025, which this year was enthusiastically received by a society that seems to have changed its perception of the female body.

The Victoria's Secret Angels are back on the runway, presenting the most sensual and feminine show we know, but also one of the most criticized, so much so that it was postponed seven years ago, returning last year. The 2024 show drew negative comments for the perfect female bodies it presented on the catwalk, in a society that seemed to have different needs.

This year, however, the 2025 Victoria's Secret show, held on October 15 in New York, was a huge success, receiving rave reviews and adoration for the "angels" who walked the runway, including Gigi and Bella Hadid, Adriana Lima, Candice Swanepoel, Doutzen Kroes, and Barbara Palvin, among others.

In addition to the well-known top models, the need for diversity brought to the stage the only three most famous curvy models, who fortunately exist and resist Ashley Graham, Precious Lee, and Paloma Elsesser, as well as mid-size models, including the up-and-coming Emeline Hoareau.

But this year, we can't criticise Victoria's Secret, because its fashion show was the perfect reflection of our times: it accurately represents our current society, which has killed Diversity and Body Positivity in the strict sense in order to triumph a kind of "Uber Diversity": the few non-compliant bodies present in the fashion show have the right to be there because they tend to approach a standardisation of beauty.
